When disposing of your old computer, you MUST remove your Hard Drive! If you leave your Hard Drive in the computer, anyone with some decent computer skills can extract your data EVEN with a password on it. You can keep your old hard drive in a safe place for backup or dispose of it by simply removing the the cover and exposing the disk to air. As an extra precaution, you can drill through or take a hammer to the disk. Be sure to take the proper safety precautions to protect yourself from flying debris.
